Ideas for reinforcement at home

-Math Whizz
-Check out a copy of Math Facts in a Flash from Ms. Penny in the office.
-Addition and Subtraction flash cards for speed and accuracy
-Make flashcards using the vocabulary and high frequency words listed on blog and newsletter
-Read each night at least twenty minutes have your child share what he/she read
-Encourage your child to practice writing numbers, letters of the alphabet, sentences (to improve handwriting)
-Encourage your child to write the grocery list (real world application to writing)
-Look through a newspaper, encourage your child to highlight or circle specific skills (for example looking for vowels, look for CVCe words, look for VCCV pattern, consonant clusters)

Reading- Last week, we read a story called Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night. This week we will be reading Exploring Parks with Ranger Dockett.
Writing- We are finishing the classroom student books. Writing the books will help us develop our ability to write complete sentences with correct punctuation. We will begin publishing some of our poetry to be hung in the hallway.
